MIU France Hard Anodized Aluminum Stovetop Deep Fryer, 6-Quarts

THIS IS AN OUTSTANDING DEEP FRYER WITH WIRED BASKET INSERT.
PERFORMED FLOORLESSLY, STRONGLY RECOMMENDED FOR THOSE DEEP
FRYING ENTHUSIST. I GIVE IT 5 STARS..
good, (What's this?) product is well made and made with good quality materials, size is larger than expected and is very heavy. 4/5 stars for the sheer weight but still very good product.
Sturdy, (What's this?) Just recently purchased mine and I love it. It's sturdy, convenient for stovetop use, and doesn't take up counter space. Extremely easy to wash. I definitely recommend this purchase.
Great Item, (What's this?) It is a great deep fryer .You use it on your stove so you have better control. It is also a very big size so you can cook alot more than your basic electric fryer. I love it . I am thinking about buying another one so I can fry everything at one time instead of doing batches.
This fryer is for the hands on cook, (What's this?) Excellent product. This fryer is for the cook who likes to be involved with the overall cooking process. Love the heavy coated pan that can be used not only as a fryer, but also for soup. The basket has a side clip that rest on the side of the pan for draining. The mesh/alumunim lid does allow the steam to escape and no splatter. The pan handles stayed cool to the touch. After the first use, I used the purchased strainer to catch the crumbles and jarred the oil until the next use. This will allow me to use the pan for the other uses. It is a good looking pan if your into good looking pots and pans. I am.

I have an electric stove. I slowly heated up the oil and when ready to fry, turned up the heat. My oil temp went up from 325 to 375 real quick. I had to remove the pan from the burner to get the temp down to 350 degrees and then placed back on the burner. At that point I had better control of the heat, but made constant adjustments with the burners heat control.
MIU deep,fryer, (What's this?) The perfect deep fry utensil. Minimal spatter and excellent heat control (on a gas stove).

I have sent my electric deep fryer to Goodwill.
awesome deep fryer, (What's this?) This is a SERIOUS fryer that I am sure will last for years. It's very heavy duty...thick aluminum pan with sturdy drain and cover. It'll easily fry half 6-8 medium potatoes at a time. For years, we got by with dropping potatoes into a pot of oil on the stove. Wish we hadn't struggled all that time with splattering and boil-overs. With this unit, you put remove the drain and place food into the drain (thereby removing more of the excess water that causes initial splattering) and lower it into the hot oil, pulling back out if it threatens to boil over, then put on the included lid with screen that nicely prevents splattering. The drain also clips onto the side for no-hands draining.
The best deep fryer. EVER., (What's this?) Words can't do justice to this thing. Perfect size. Top quality. Much easier to clean than a plug in unit. I like to live a clutter free lifestyle, but even if I didn't this would still be the way to go. Using the stove as the heat source gives you plenty of heat and much more control. Plug in units have too much "stuff" that can break, need cleaning, don't need, etc. If more things in life were thought out and implemented this well, then life would be that much better.
Not a well designed product, (What's this?) Why I do not like this product:

1) The way the basket sits inside the pot, you have much less usable space for food, while requiring LOTS of oil. It holds about 10-12 cups of oil, any more and it will overflow when the food is added. There is a fairly wide gap around the sides and on the bottom of the pot--that's just how the basket fits. The basket could have been wider and the feet on the basket bottom waste a good amount of cooking space. So, for the large amount of oil, you don't fry much food. If you fry in batches, it takes a long time to reheat the oil (see 3rd comment).

2) There is no marker to indicate the top fill level, which is a safety feature so that you don't have an overflow of oil after you add the food.

3) The pot is so heavy that it is hard to control the temperature. When food is added to the fryer, the temperature drops, and you need to fiddle with the temperature to get it back to the correct temp. With this pot, I think because it's so heavy and contains so much oil, it's very hard to do (that is, it takes a long time), even with a good gas stove top.
Better and easier to clean then an electric deep fryer, (What's this?) Great quality and well designed. Best home deep fryer I've used so far. All you need is a thermometer to check the temperature of the oil.
